Last Sat was our Stake Preparedness Fair. I am the Stake Preparedness Specialist, so it was my baby. I delegated a LOT (hoping to make this year less stressful than in the past) but several delegatees did not do what they were supposed to, so I had to do it, only this time I only had 2-3 wks instead of 3 months.
Then 2-3 days before the Fair I had 2 teachers cancel, on the day of the fair I had 4 teachers/helpers not even show up and 2 others that came, set up their display and left, so there was no one there to answer questions. AND the EQ was supposed to send 2-3 people to help clean up but they didn't show so guess who was washing dishes and sweeping floors an hr after everyone went home?
But for those who came, it was a good event. Not as many people as last year (I think everyone is burned out with this current round of flooding.) But those who came said it was great, we had several non-LDS as teachers or doing a display and about 1/2 of the visitors were not LDS.
So now that the Fair is over we have flooding to worry about. In case you haven't heard it on the news, this year's flood is expected to be bad. Not as bad as last year's but easily as bad (or worse) than '97 (the previous record-holder for "bad floods".)
The gravel road that connects us to paved road is now under water and will likely wash out by day's end. It was never properly repaired last year (FEMA money didn't come in time.) so it was already not holding up well. _________________ "I write down everything I want to remember. I am so sorry that all those people dumped their jobs on you PC! Rude. I love you can do attitude, though. You amaze me.
I wish I could stop the flooding for you, but nature will do what she wants. We are powerless in the face of such forces.
Hang in there, girl. _________________ My candle burns at both ends;

Flooding? No fun! What do you do when the gravel road washes out and you can't get to the road?
Nice to hear that you had several non-LDS teaching the fair and lots of non-members came -- this is something that everyone needs. I hope the floods don't get as bad as '97. _________________ "Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul."

Between snow and rain, I don't think we'll ever be coming to visit you for a meetup! Sorry the weather has been stinky as of late- glad that even though people don't do what they say they will, all that attended still had a good time. _________________ When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you. |
